This is the founding fountain which inspired me to launch a photo challenge, although, maybe photo shares would better describe what I am aiming for. Not sure how much of this fountain is man-made and how much is natural, to me it’s hard to tell, however, certainly the mossy stone seems to have been in place forever fitting perfectly into an environment of woodland, scrub and cliffs on a path that has been used since the 1500s at least. An altar to the virgin Mary in the facing cliff has been here since the 1500s and bears testimony to the fact. However it was made, it’s truly a part of the landscape. The theme for the February/March photo challenge is fountains in natural environments (on a hike as above) or in a wild garden environments.
