Market day in Basel – fruits, vegetables, historical buildings and little boys with caps drinking from fountains.
Fountains for May – animals or people on or in fountains, it might be a live animal, like a bird in your garden’s fountain, it might be a stone animal decorating a fountain, once again, share whatever you discover.
Create your own post and title it Fountain series May
- Include a link to this page in your post so others can find it too
- Add the tag ‘fountain series’ so everyone can find the benches easily in the WP Reader
- Get your post in by the end of the month, as the new fountain theme comes out on the first Friday of each month
You don’t have to post on a Friday. Any day in the month will do. If you have loads of pictures that fit into a theme, feel free to post several times during the month or create a gallery or whatever works best for you.
We have already had some wonderful fountain shares from around the world. In the past weeks, submissions have come in from TGeriatrix submitting one of Dubrovnik’s most famous landmarks, Onofrio Fountain. Dubrovnik, a Unesco world heritage site and a city I have wanted to visit for a long time. Jude takes us to France, the submission theme seems to be named fountains for these too and submits the splendid Warsaw fountain, Chava at This and That submits a wonderful fountain, from the NYC Bronx Botanical Gardens, For the May people and animals, on or in, fountains Arkenaten, he who would get rid of his lawn if he could, (read his comment on the post begonias it’s very funny) shared a beautiful, captured nostalgia for lost youth inducing fountain photo. The New3Rs submits a somewhat frightening close-up from Vienna, of another named fountain wth the evocative name Mastery of the Sea, and a specially magical shot comes from Chava , I am getting old I think, it’s of children and a fountain and tells a story of summer, and youth, and carefree days and friendship; Arkenaten submits another gorgeous photograph, a little girl, lots of splashing and a fountain, what joy, it makes you smile, just by looking at the photo, do go and have a look. Many of these photos make you feel happy about being human, with the world news the way it is, I think this has become a rare feeling. Jude submits a characteristically artistic shot of a Swiss dragon, although the population isn’t particularly well-known for being fiery in nature, traveller beware: here be dragons…(I love that statement off the old maps). KAZ submits another wonderful fountain – a tribute to a Mark Twain story – leaping frogs – which reminds me of ballet, have a look at this Royal Ballet excerpt on Youtube:
And then there is the lion of Gdansk, submitted by Tgeriatrix, who travels a lot! Immediately made me think of Atlan, in C.S.Lewis it appears I cannot see anything without associating it to some other element of our culture. I hope I haven’t mixed anything up or forgotten anyone. Please visit the other sites and have a look at some of the fountains, they are wonderful.
Please do join us on our visit to fountains around the world. Thanks all for joining in! I look forward to more contributions in the coming months! Poli
