I have had a week off from my computer. Not fully, of course, but I’ve avoided email, blogging etc. only watching the odd show. This means I have really had a relaxing week, however, amazingly, I realise that I missed a Friday post! I’ve been to see modern art exhibitions, old Woody Allen films in black and white, enjoyed a trip to Italy and generally tried to have a proper holiday, before 2017 starts off, where 2016 left off. Today is the last day of 2016 and this is the last fountain for the year. So here are the last fountains for 2016. The one above photographed in one of the poshest areas of Basel, St Alban’s Vorstadt. This is where you live or work if you come from old money, or if you’d like to make that impression. The houses are beautiful. My favourite is the one behind the fountain, with the turret bathed in golden sunlight, much like the fortunes of the area’s inhabitants.
You can see the ubiquitous parking signs, which I have complained about many times, and which mar many a beautiful site in Basel, gracing my photo above.
I have a couple more photos, which will go in separate posts!
Don’t forget, next month is the LAST month of the fountain challenge. It doesn’t end here :): We will be celebrating defunct snowed under January fountains. Please share any if you have any to share.
Remember the rules:
I shall post a fountain each Friday within a particular theme which will change each month. You are invited to join in by posting one or more of your own fountains within the month that fit into the theme and either add a link (ping-back) in your post to mine or link to it in a comment on my post.
To make it easier to find everyone’s posts, perhaps you could add the Tag ‘Fountain Series‘.
You don’t have to post on a Friday. Any day in the month will do. If you have loads of pictures that fit into a theme, feel free to post several times during the month or create a gallery or whatever works best for you.Next month is the last fountain, the theme for January?
- January: old fountains, defunct fountains, repurposed fountains or fountains asleep under a blanket of snow
